Low quality captures can be because of fingers that are either too wet or too dry, or because of improper finger scanning technique.

If the image does not look dark enough, then the finger is probably too dry. Moisten fingers and try again. If the image is extremely dark and smudged then the finger is too wet. Dry finger and try again.
